Nick is an author, speaker, and active duty U.S. Army Green Beret.
On a deployment in Afghanistan in 2013, Nick’s detachment experienced an insider attack that resulted in the loss of his leg. After a year of surgeries and recovery with a prosthetic limb, Nick rejoined his detachment in 2015. He is the first Special Forces operator to return to combat as an above-the-knee amputee.
Currently, Nick serves as a Special Forces Warrant Officer. He is the first amputee to complete several Special Forces tactical and combative operations courses. Nick received numerous medals including the Silver Star, three Purple Hearts, two Bronze Stars, and a Bronze Start with “V” for valor.
In addition to serving in the military, Nick is also a speaker and trainer who works with corporations, schools, sports teams, and non-profit organizations. He gave a TEDx Talk called “Living by an Ethos.”
