Now you may be wondering, who is this guy and why is his channel called LAWHF?

LAWHF stands for a quote from the movie Fight Club: “Losing all hope was freedom”.

LAWHF, run by Andrew Hales, was once one of the top prank channels on YouTube due to his funny and usually awkward videos. Whether that was him being awkward in an elevator, acting out the notebook with girls, or holding people’s hands.

But long before Andrew built his YouTube channel to 2.3 million subscribers, he was just a normal college kid in Utah with many different jobs and side hustles in order to make money.

In addition to Andrew’s entrepreneurial ventures, he also messed around with making videos with friends.

Then in 2012 Andrew hired a guy off craigslist for like 20 bucks an hour or whatever and they filmed LAHWF's first serious video called "Almost Picking Up Chicks".

A couple weeks later WorldStar picked it up and his channel gained 20,000 subscribers.

And then he just kept posting every week, every week, and then 10 weeks later Andrew made his first viral video called "Holding People's Hand", which gained 5 MILLION views in a week.

This video caused LAHWF to finally make money on YouTube. He earned $30,000 in one week from that video.

Over the next couple years Andrew consistently made funny and awkward videos that received millions of views, and thus made him one of the most popular YouTubers of the early 2010’s.

But then in 2016, at the age of 26, Andrew started to get sick of doing these awkward pranks on college campuses, both by himself and with YouTubers like BigDawsTV, ThatWasEpic, DailyDropout, and AngryPicnic.

With this desire to do something new, Andrew eventually started a new series called “Chatting With”, where he interviewed various people.

His Chatting With videos even included non celebrities, like a meth head, Flat Earther, stock trader millionaire, and many more.

During this new peak for Andrews’ channel, he was earning a lot of money and fully living it up as a young, rich, and popular YouTuber.

Andrew Hales and his channel named LAHWF helped him make money on YouTube. He earned $250,000 in 2018 and about $200,000 in 2019.

Andrew also traveled a lot and visited Russia, Japan, and Paris. All the while paying $3,600 a month in rent for an apartment in Los Angeles, California.

Then at the end of 2019, Andrew got a serious wake up call as his Chatting With interview videos started to get less and less views.

And as his views declined, so did his YouTube Ads income.

It just like shrunk from $15,000 a month down to like $3,000 a month within a couple months, which was very hard for him to handle.

But not only did Andrew Hales continually party and spend lots of money, he forgot to plan for one thing that is absolutely unavoidable in life. And in his case, he owed about $40,000 in taxes, which he didn't pay, but instead built up as credit card debt.

In addition to these negative events, his views and income further decreased because of the quarantine in 2020. With this situation, his Chatting With interview guests canceled on him.

To compensate for his decreasing income, Andrew Hales got rid of his expensive apartment in Los Angeles, California and downsized.

Because of these circumstances LAHWF was under tremendous financial pressure.

In order to relieve this stress, Andrew eventually decided to face his fear and finally get a part time job.

Which, even though it will be his first job in about 10 years, he says it feels like a relief and big weight off his shoulders.

And even though Andrew Hales reached a low point in his life, because of the learning he’s gained and his acceptance of his current situation, he’s finally excited and relieved to be heading in the right direction for him at this time in his life.

And when we experience tough times in our lives, like Andrew has, we can remember to follow his example, to learn from the situation, never give up, and keep moving forward.
