After traveling to 50 countries by age 24, Peter realized Americans primarily learn about the world through geopolitics and current events. His goal is to humanize different cultures and communities through face-to-face reporting, specifically to counter the artificial division and "temperature" created by mainstream media. He uses a small, non-threatening camera to capture authentic human interactions, noting that a large film crew would make it impossible to get into sensitive communities like Hasidic Jewish neighborhoods or high-crime housing projects.
We discuss the southern border and how cartels facilitate highly organized "package tours" for international migrants, the fentanyl crisis, and the dynamics of wealth and poverty in New Orleans.
