YouTube Description
as posted by the channelThe public discussion surrounding the 25 Third Country Nationals (TCNs) transferred from the United States has taken a dangerous turn.
According to reports and public statements, misinformation has fueled fear and hostility toward these individuals. A television news report showed the house where the TCNs will be staying in St. Mary, raising concerns about their safety.
Residents have repeated claims that the TCNs are “violent criminals” or “pedophiles.” Those allegations have not been substantiated, and it is important that public discussion be based on verified facts rather than rumors.
Additionally, TikTok blogger Marvin Edgar (“marvin_likklefyah”) shared a statement attributed to a St. Mary resident referring to “25 dead bodies” in connection with the TCNs. Any statement that threatens or appears to encourage violence should be treated seriously by law enforcement.
The Jamaica Constabulary Force should investigate these threats and hold anyone responsible for inciting or threatening violence accountable.
Millions of Jamaicans, both documented and undocumented, reside in the United States. Jamaicans abroad should expect the same respect and protection that Jamaica extends to foreign nationals within its borders.
Political disagreements should never place innocent lives at risk. If public officials knowingly repeat false information that contributes to hostility or violence, they should be held accountable through the appropriate democratic and legal processes.
This discussion is about protecting human life, promoting responsible leadership, and ensuring that facts—not fear—guide public debate.
