While the opposition staged protests, the Government of Jamaica continued rolling out major initiatives aimed at improving the lives of Jamaicans.
In this episode of Jamaica Politics Uncovered, we examine several significant developments from the week:
✅ Jamaica strengthens international partnerships in Spain as Foreign Minister Kamina Johnson Smith participates in the OECD Ministerial Dialogue for Latin America and the Caribbean—engaging on trade, investment, resilience, and security.
✅ How much do you think government spends on education? This was the focus at the PAAC today. Jamaica just earned the World Bank Group’s Human Capital Champion Award, recognizing the country’s investment in education, health, and the productive capacity of its people. The recognition places Jamaica among a select group of countries acknowledged for achieving strong human capital outcomes relative to national income.
✅ Prime Minister Andrew Holness delivers new NHT homes to residents in St. Andrew South Eastern, represented by Opposition MP Julian Robinson, as the government’s housing programme continues.
✅ The Government launches the J$20 billion SPARK Main Roads Programme, a major infrastructure initiative designed to improve Jamaica’s primary road network, strengthen connectivity, and make travel safer and more reliable across the island.
We’ll discuss what these developments could mean for Jamaica’s economy, infrastructure, international standing, and future development.
What do you think? Are these the kinds of achievements Jamaicans should be focusing on? Let us know in the comments.
