Let's talk about the interplay of race and politics in American culture. This topic is admittedly difficult, but can be engaged objectively. Fact is, difficult or not, if we earnestly believe in a post partisan political society, this is the door that needs to be earnestly engaged. Dispel the illusions of the past, accept how the past sticks to the future; not to ignore or pretend 'xyz' didn't happen. The goal is not a pretend unity, it's to accept the reality of a complex heritage and move beyond it. Until it's engaged, political parties will continue to play one against the other to divide and screw over the society. We proceed together, or we don't proceed at all. It really is, that simple.
