On Washington Week, The Washington Post's David Broder, Time's Michael Duffy and the Boston Globe's Nina Easton discussed Obama's fiery speech. "A star is born," Duffy said on July 30, 2004. At the DNC four years later, Obama was nominated by his party as its presidential candidate, and 2004 Democratic nominee John Kerry would eventually become secretary of State under Obama.
