1.) During the State of the Union address, President Trump announced that he will meet with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un in Vietnam on February 27 and 28. The two leaders had their first meeting in Singapore last June.
2.) The Senate approved a Middle East policy urging the President to keep U.S. troops in Afghanistan and Syria. Majority Leader Mitch McConnell spearheaded the bill that passed with bipartisan support. Passage through the House is uncertain.
3.) President Trump plans to nominate new commissioned leaders for the Army, Navy and Marines. The President has already nominated Army General Mark Milley as his preferred choice to chair the Joint Chiefs of Staff when Marine General Joe Dunford steps down.
