Jesse Dollemore discusses the new push by Republicans to oust Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth. Sen. Thom Tillis, who is only finding some semblance of a spine after losing his seat in the halls of power, is calling on Donald Trump to fire Hegseth. Tillis took to Twitter to write: “I have never witnessed more inept management of the brave men and women who serve our country... He is intimidated by competence and retreats to ginning up culture wars instead of soberly attending to the vital work of our national defense and the health and well-being of our fighting force.” Rep. Don Bacon is now joining the call to fire Pete Hegseth as well. While it may be surprising that Republicans are now making these calls, Jesse provides important clarification of their underlying goals and priorities, highlighting how these Republicans are not owed credit for these demands.
