BREAKING: Trump's Military Crackdown on LA Immigration Protesters Escalates as Marines Deploy Against Americans

President Donald Trump has deployed 700 Marines and over 2,000 National Guard troops to Los Angeles as immigration protests entered their fifth day, with more than 100 people arrested Monday night, according to city officials and federal authorities.

The protests began Friday following Immigration and Customs Enforcement raids that resulted in the arrest of 118 immigrants across the Los Angeles area. Demonstrators have clashed with law enforcement, with police firing flash bangs, rubber bullets, and tear gas to disperse crowds who threw objects, including fireworks, at officers.

The military deployment appears to be the first time in decades that a state's National Guard was activated without a request from its governor, sparking a constitutional crisis. California Governor Gavin Newsom has requested Trump remove the Guard members and called their deployment a "serious breach of state sovereignty."

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass said "fringe groups" were responsible for late-night violence and vandalism, distinguishing them from earlier peaceful immigration protests. Bass blamed the increasingly aggressive protests on Trump's decision to deploy federal troops, calling it "a move designed to enflame tensions."

The confrontations have spread beyond Los Angeles, with protests erupting in at least nine other cities including New York, San Francisco, Austin, and Atlanta. The Department of Homeland Security said ICE had arrested 2,000 immigration offenders per day in recent days, far above the 311 daily average under the previous administration.
