For a number of years well-funded Wall Street hedge funds have quietly buying up nursing homes across the country, seeking to cut costs and pocket millions of dollars in profits as a result. The fact that these cost-saving measures reduce the quality of care and lead to significantly higher death rates among residents, well, that’s just the cost of doing business, right? Now it turns out that these private equity firms haven’t even been complying with minimal federal regulations requiring public acknowledgement of just who owns individual nursing homes to allow for greater transparency and public accountability.

Jimmy and America’s comedian Kurt Metzger wonder why as a society we allow these private equity vultures to profit off the immiseration and death of the nation’s seniors.
