12:45Now PlayingLeft-leaning online publication The Intercept has announced that it will be unmooring itself from billionaire founder Pierre Omidyar and becoming, in words of editor Ryan Grim, “100% independent.” Except if you look more closely, the publication will still depend on Omidyar for 10% of its funding, and will also be adding to the board a certain Maria Ressa, who used to work for the CIA front NGO the National Endowment for Democracy. Oh, and she also says Julian Assange is not a journalist. Sounds like a 100% independent outlet for sure!
