Kennedy Jr.’s nomination as Secretary of Health and Human Services has sparked significant controversy, particularly due to organized opposition claiming to represent medical professionals across the country. This opposition is being driven by the so-called 'Committee to Protect Health Care,' which misleadingly asserts it has the backing of more than 17,000 doctors urging senators to reject Kennedy.
According to CBS and NBC among others, the letter from the Committee to Protect Health Care claims to be signed by thousands of doctors who are appalled by President Trump's decision to nominate Kennedy, branding him as ‘a science-denying danger.’ The petition appears to be a fraud, however, and is little more than a document that anyone can sign on to using any name they like.
