as posted by the channelRussell Brand appeared Thursday in court on five separate charges of rape and sexual assault. An investigation was launched after Brand was accused of sexual offences by several women.
The charges date back more than a decade, and were only brought to the forefront after a joint investigation by a range of British media outlets that tracked down the women involved.
Brand has said he welcomed the opportunity to prove his innocence.
Jimmy and Americans’ Comedian Kurt Metzger discuss whether the charges are merely a political witchhunt targeting an outspoken critic of entrenched power centers, much in the way Wikileaks’ Julian Assange was similarly accused.
