6:55Now PlayingIran’s nuclear program is intended as a deterrent and symbol of sovereignty, not as a step toward developing nuclear weapons, which they consider immoral. So says University of Tehran English Literature and Orientalism professor Seyed Mohammad Marandi, who cites Iran’s refusal to produce chemical weapons during the Iran-Iraq War as evidence of this moral stance.
Professor Marandi tells guest hosts Russell Dobular and Keaton Weiss that the core issue behind Western hostility toward Iran is its steadfast support for Palestine, which no other country in the region genuinely offers. He concludes that U.S. opposition to Iran is not about nuclear proliferation or human rights, but about suppressing an independent state that challenges Western and Israeli interests.
