Here’s How You KNOW Democracy In The U.S. Is A Sham! w/ Chris Hedges

In this segment guest Chris Hedges agrees with Jimmy that saving the United States will require disrupting the machinery of commerce and government—modeled on the Canadian trucker protests and Mexican teacher strikes—because investing energy in the electoral system is an "utter waste of time" and even third-party campaigns only serve to pressure the duopoly, not win. He notes that 77% of Democrats want to cut military aid to Israel, yet Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries do nothing, proving that the US has no semblance of democracy and that Trump functions as a dictator because Democrats have given him the ability to do so.

The two agree that America is subservient to capital, with every institution—including formerly democratic ones—serving the interests of the war industry, which is why liberals like Rachel Maddow make $35 million to discredit critics of empire while never questioning the "virtues" of empire, only its excesses. Hedges concludes that the oligarchs have successfully eviscerated labor unions and other resistance organizations, leaving worker disruption as the only remaining hope—and that the US is in a state of "implosion," not managed decline, because the Trump administration has no strategic competence.
