Nicholas Eberstadt and John question why some support a Universal Basic Income, or UBI, when Nicholas' work has demonstrated the deleterious effects of large welfare schemes for individuals. Nicholas points out that the decline of the 'summer job' - casual employment for teenagers - is a contributing factor to men beginning work later in life, yet being evermore unfamiliar with the demands of modern workplaces.
