On tonight’s show, I cover the latest chaos in Trump’s handling of the war with Iran, starting with the rescue of a missing US servicemember and the extraordinary amount of operational detail Trump and his team are now publicly disclosing while the conflict is still ongoing. I get into why that matters, including concerns that they may be exposing sensitive methods, capabilities, and vulnerabilities while US pilots are still flying missions over Iran every day. I also look at Trump threatening a media company that reported on the missing airman, demanding the source and suggesting a reporter could be jailed, which is a pretty stunning thing for a president to say in the middle of a war.

I also break down Trump’s increasingly erratic messaging on Iran itself. Over the weekend he was threatening to “liberate” Iran on one timeline, then another, then posting an unhinged Easter message about power plants, bridges, the Strait, and “Praise be to Allah,” before giving a statement from the White House while standing next to the Easter Bunny. At the same time, he’s openly talking about wanting to seize Iran’s oil, complaining that American public opinion won’t let him, and making bizarre claims about sending guns to Iranian protesters through the Kurds. He’s also insisting the war could be over in days and that Iran is on the verge of a deal, even as Iran appears to be rejecting a ceasefire and signaling no interest in playing along.

Beyond Iran, I also cover several other major developments tonight: Iran’s apparent desire to control the Strait after the war and charge a toll, which would create both an economic and strategic nightmare; Trump’s latest attacks on NATO, which he now says he “tested” and found to be a “paper tiger”; his surreal comments to children about the value of his autograph while attacking Biden over the autopen; new reporting on a Serbian false-flag claim that appears to be falling apart; ICE detaining the newlywed wife of a US soldier training to deploy; and Zelenskyy’s significant visit to Damascus, which sends a bigger geopolitical signal than many people may realize.
