Iran War Update: Trump bombs Iran Again

On tonight’s show, I’ll discuss the latest Iran negotiations, and the fact that Trump’s big “maximum pressure” fantasy is already colliding with reality. Iran is reportedly considering Trump's 30-day deal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, lift the US blockade, and stop the fighting while both sides negotiate a broader settlement. But the big sticking point is still enrichment. The US wants Iran to hand over its stockpile and suspend enrichment for 20 years; Iran is offering less.

And while Trump keeps pretending Iran is on the verge of collapse, US intelligence is saying something very different: Iran can survive the blockade for months, still has most of its mobile launchers and missiles, and may well believe it can outlast Trump politically. That’s the problem. Trump isn’t negotiating from strength if the other side thinks he’s bluffing -- or worse, panicking.

I’ll also talk about the ongoing economic fallout, because this war is already hitting Americans in the wallet. Gas is up to $4.56 a gallon, oil is moving, ground beef just hit $6.70 nationally, and Republicans are suddenly pretending presidents don’t affect gas prices. Funny how that works. Under Biden, every penny at the pump was apparently the president’s personal fault. But now Trump shuts down the Strait of Hormuz -- choking off a huge share of global oil and natural gas traffic -- and suddenly prices are just some mysterious act of God. Except Trump himself admitted the stakes, bragging that oil only hit $100 and saying even $200 oil would be “worth it.” Worth it for whom? Because for everyone else, that’s not strategy. That’s $10 gas and an economic grenade with a gold-plated Trump logo on it.

And then there’s the rest of the corruption circus. Democrats are investigating whether Trump’s pardons were driven by pay-to-play politics. The DOJ is reportedly probing suspicious oil trades made right before Trump’s Iran announcements. Trump wants Hakeem Jeffries charged for criticizing him, because apparently free speech is now incitement if it hurts Dear Leader’s feelings.

He’s racing to use an insecure Qatari 747 as Air Force One, which experts say can’t possibly be properly upgraded in a few months. And on top of that, we’ve got Kash Patel allegedly polygraphing his own security detail in a panic over leaks, Trump’s billion-dollar ballroom “security” slush fund, talk of Border Patrol agents at polling places, and -- because subtlety is dead -- a 20-foot gold statue of Trump at Doral. Nero fiddled. Trump gilds himself.
