Kennedy Center Cancels "Trump"

On tonight’s show, I’ll be discussing Trump officially nominating Todd Blanche to be attorney general, and the Kennedy Center website removing Trump’s name.

Then we’ll get into the big story: Iran and Israel exchanging blows, Trump claiming he told Netanyahu not to hit back, Netanyahu apparently hitting back anyway, and Trump still insisting we’re “very close” to a deal. And then there’s Trump telling the Financial Times that Netanyahu basically has no choice but to accept whatever deal Trump cuts with Iran because, according to Trump, “I call the shots.” Sure. Except Israel is still acting, Iran is still acting, and Trump is now bragging about getting Iran to promise not to build a nuclear weapon -- which experts say Iran has been promising for more than 50 years. So once again, Trump may be selling us a “big” breakthrough that isn’t actually new at all.

I’ll also talk about a federal judge striking down Trump’s ridiculous $100,000 H-1B visa fee, saying the administration overreached. This was the fee that would have hammered universities, schools, hospitals, and employers trying to hire foreign professionals -- and now, at least for the moment, a judge has said no. (And there's an Obamacare hook!)

Then we’ll get into Trump’s disastrous "Meet the Press" interview, where he melted down, pushed conspiracy theories about the 2020 election, California vote-counting, and January 6, and then stormed out. And one of the most ridiculous parts was Trump claiming he never promised to end all wars. Which is just absurd. Because we have the receipts. He said it over and over during the campaign: no more wars, he would stop wars, the years of war would be over, peace and prosperity, all of it. So we’ll walk through what he actually said -- and what he’s now pretending he didn’t say.

I’ll also talk about Trump ignoring D-Day, while somehow finding time to flood social media with bizarre AI fantasies of himself riding a lion, skydiving, dining with world leaders, and attacking his usual enemies. Meanwhile, Zelensky posted a really moving D-Day message about the Allied landings, the defeat of the Nazis, and the fight for freedom then and now. The Ukrainian president gave the kind of D-Day message an American president used to give, but now refuses.

Also tonight: the return of the screwworm threat after DOGE cuts reportedly hit the very program meant to monitor and contain it in Central America; the weird Mormon controversy where the administration apparently tried to solve the problem of not calling Mormons Christian by just not calling anyone Christian; and Pete Hegseth taking six of his children on an official trip to France before giving a D-Day speech that sounded way too strange for comfort.

Then we’ll turn to media and democracy, with Scott Pelley saying Bari Weiss told his team to make protesters look more violent and to frame one woman as driving toward an officer -- which Pelley says was Trump’s messaging, but not the truth.

And finally, we’ll look overseas: Armenia’s pro-Europe party wins parliamentary elections, confirming another move away from Russia; Russia’s friends keep losing ground; Zelensky visits King Charles at Windsor Castle; Crimea is reportedly facing fuel shortages; a huge ammo warehouse blows up in Belgorod; and the U.S. is still hesitating on a drone deal with Ukraine -- even though Ukraine is now one of the world leaders in modern drone warfare, and the U.S. military badly needs to learn from them.
