1:18:38Now PlayingDonald Trump spent the weekend threatening Iran with a historic new attack. Then he suddenly announced that Iran had agreed to nearly everything he wanted -- including limits on its nuclear program and a deal involving the Strait of Hormuz. Iran responded by saying it wasn’t even negotiating with him. By Monday, Trump was furious and accusing Tehran of breaking promises it apparently never made.
In other words, Trump lied again.
The consequences are becoming increasingly dangerous. America’s top general in Europe reportedly warned the Pentagon that he doesn’t have enough naval forces to continue protecting Israel from Iranian ballistic missiles. Without another destroyer, he could eventually be forced to choose between defending Israel and defending the American homeland.
Meanwhile, suspected Iranian hackers have targeted water systems in at least seven states. No drinking water is known to have been contaminated, but the attacks appear designed to prove that Iran could disrupt American infrastructure. Trump responded by defending Iran, rejecting his own intelligence community’s assessment and blaming Democratic officials in Minnesota.
I also dig into the collapse of the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool prosecution and the Justice Department’s questionable explanation for dropping the case. Trump is reportedly furious with Jeanine Pirro and considering firing one of his most loyal MAGA supporters.
Then there’s Trump’s proposed January 6 compensation fund, his extraordinary tax settlement, his nightly calls tracking corporate donations and the apparent connection between paying Trump and gaining access to the president. We also discuss Elon Musk rewriting the history of Hitler, Trump’s ideological purge of military-academy courses and the Democratic Senate primary in Michigan.
Finally, I cover Trump wavering over allowing Ukraine to manufacture Patriot missiles, Russia reportedly sharing intelligence with Iran, Ukraine’s latest attacks on Russia’s Wildberries warehouses, the deadly drone explosion on a Russian beach and President Zelensky’s proposal for an air ceasefire and direct negotiations with Putin.
