John Vervaeke (@vervaeke_john) teaches Cognitive Science, Mindfulness, and Buddhism in the Psychology department of University of Toronto. He's producing a series of lectures titled "Awakening from the Meaning Crisis" which charts the rise of "psycho-technologies" (narrative, writing, democracy, etc), and their influence on our development as selves and as a species—and the reasons why at this point in history we are struggling to make collective and individual meaning.
