Bullshit, fake news and ideological conflict run rampant. No one knows what to believe anymore, and as a result, many people are spinning in circles. How did we get here, and what can we do about it?
In the past, most societies had “consensus belief systems”: Worldviews which everyone in a society would agree with by default, thus providing social cohesion and a sense of purpose to those within society. Today, we have no such luxury. Instead we’re presented with a multitude of worldviews, with no clear meta-system for choosing between them.
Drawing on John Vervaeke’s new course, Awakening from the Meaning Crisis, the Multiversity discusses these issues, and a whole lot more.
