She is very involved with Ancient Faith Radio and has her own ongoing podcast, “Frederica Here and Now” that started in 2007. She’s written numerous books like “Welcome to the Orthodox Church, An Introduction to Eastern Christianity”, “The Jesus Prayer: The Ancient Desert Prayer that Tunes the Heart to God” and many more.
In this interview we talk about the idea of “re-enchantment” that you’ve heard me mention, differentiating it from “magic”. We discuss the various problems with modernity, like abstraction, loneliness, self-naming and how the popular psychological notion of “self-help” differs from the Orthodox path to salvation. Lastly we talk about the “supernatural”, or #SymbolismHappens.
