as posted by the channelI recently came across a YouTube video, "Why I hate Religions, but love Jesus," by Jefferson Bethke, which was made back in the year 2002. Not surprisingly, this video viewed over 34 million times. I mention this and recommend people see it because it highlights a lot of what the mindset of our time is. Allow me to say that I applaud Mr. Bethke for his love for Jesus and his willingness to engage in a very transparent and bold manner.
Mr. Bethke, in a poetic style, raps claims about Jesus, such as Jesus boasts in your weakness; salvation depends on the work of Christ; people only know you are Christian on Facebook and many others. It is evident that Mr. Bethke is trying to get people to fall in love with Jesus and to forget about religion, but in doing so, he does a disservice to Christ as he begins to justify why he hates religion but loves Jesus. Mr. Bethke suggests that Jesus is not a Republican; Jesus hates religion; religion has started many wars; religion builds fancy churches but does not feed the poor, and among other claims, religion and Jesus are two different clans.
