A few months ago, I released a documentary titled "Inside South Africa’s Most Dangerous Neighbourhood," which delves into the Cape Flats, a hotspot for gang violence in South Africa.

In the documentary, I interviewed high-ranking members of the Americans gang, one of the most powerful gangs in the country. I also spoke with a boy named Solin Roman, one of the gang’s newest recruits and the younger brother of the Americans gang leader, Lee.

At that time, Solin was in a very dark place and became very emotional during our interview. When I released the documentary, many viewers expressed concern for Solin, and I shared their worries about his safety.

Then, I received a message from a man named Daniel Williams, who informed me that he had found Solin and taken him to his rehabilitation centre, where Solin has been living for the past few months. I decided to make the two-hour journey to meet up with him in person to see how he has been doing.
