John J. Mearsheimer is the R. Wendell Harrison Distinguished Service Professor of Political Science at the University of Chicago and a leading realist scholar of international relations. A West Point graduate and former U.S. Air Force officer, he is the author of numerous influential works on U.S. foreign policy and power politics.
Yanis Varoufakis is an economist, author, and former Greek finance minister who served during Greece’s 2015 debt crisis. A professor of economics and co-founder of DiEM25 and MeRA25, he is the author of numerous influential works on capitalism, austerity, debt, and global political economy.
Dr. John Harfouch studies the history of philosophy from 1600 to the present. His 2018 book, Another Mind-Body Problem: A History of Racial Non-Being, presents a counter-history of human subjectivity in the Modern period tracing the development of race and racism through the discourse on minds and bodies. He has also written extensively on imperialism, colonialism, and orientalism in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. His current research program focuses on Palestinian philosopher, Fayez Sayegh, who developed a unique philosophical method to advocate for justice in the Middle East. At UAH, Dr. Harfouch often teaches classes in ethics, history, and political philosophy. He is also the director of UAH’s pre-law certificate.
Dr. Joseph Levine is an American philosopher at the University of Massachusetts Amherst who received his PhD from Harvard University in 1981. He works on philosophy of mind and is best known for formulating the explanatory gap argument against materialist explanations for consciousness.
