Kellie-Jay questions how this Women’s Centre no longer offers single-sex services or spaces now they accept men in the Women’s Centre. Louisa Matthews responds “being trans-inclusive does not increase risk”. The data would beg to differ…
What happened at the event?
Kellie-Jay, along with members of LWS East Midlands, made their way around the stalls, before asking the women’s services and organisations whether they offered single-sex spaces and services, for women only.
After interviewing a Nottingham Council employee, tensions in the hall grew, and Kellie-Jay and LWS members were asked to leave, saying how their questions were offensive and distressing.
The event organisers falsely claimed the venue was privately owned (it is council-owned), and Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner Angela Kandola, tried to personally show Kellie-Jay the door. Male police officers arrived and escorted Kellie-Jay and the whole LWS group out of the building.
