as posted by the channelWinnipeg – At 1:51 a.m. on Friday, April 17, 2020, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a warehouse in the 100 block of Charles Street when the Winnipeg Police Service’s Air 1 spotted the fire and reported it to WFPS.
When crews arrived on scene, they encountered a well-involved fire with heavy smoke and flames coming from the building. Due to deteriorating conditions, crews were unable to enter the building. No injuries were reported.
Crews launched a defensive attack using aerial ladders. WPS Air 1 and the WFPS drone were used to provide situational awareness to the incident commander.
Crews are expected to remain on scene into the morning. Residents are asked to avoid the area while crews complete their work.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available.
