Black Friday is one of the biggest shopping days of the year; retail stores make a lot more money on Black Friday than any other holiday during the year. It's right after Thanksgiving and right before Christmas - a GREAT time to get all your holiday shopping done. The SALES are what people are after UNLESS they're more sinister than that.
