Tara Munsey was a 16-year-old working at Taco Bell in Fairlawn, Virginia; a small town where nothing like this was ever supposed to happen. On January 25th, 2000, she clocked out the shift, grabbed some food on her way out, dropped it onto the front seat of her car, along with her work hat, and vanished. Her car stayed in the parking lot. Her belongings were left behind.
What followed was a desperate search that consumed an entire community. Volunteers, law enforcement, and Tara's loved ones combed through freezing Virginia woods, hoping to bring her home. But the truth about what happened to Tara wouldn't surface until days later, hidden in a place no one thought to look.
Tara's story is a heartbreaking reminder that danger can find us in the most ordinary moments, even on a shift we've worked a hundred times before.
