Kings and Generals historical animated documentary series on the Eastern Front of World War II starts out with the prelude episode #5. Previously we discussed the rise of Hitler (), while this episode will focus on the Industrialization of the Soviet Union, as we discuss Stalin and the Soviet Military Before WWII to explore how the USSR transformed into a formidable force. We begin by examining The Industrial Roots of Soviet Power, tracing early efforts to build capacity under Lenin and later, under Stalin’s centralization. This leads to a detailed breakdown of The FiveYear Plans and Their Costs, where massive gains in coal, oil, and steel production came at the tragic cost of famine and repression.
