Kings and Generals animated historical documentary series on the early modern history continues with a video on the battle of Blenheim during the War of the Spanish Succession, which some historians consider to be the World War 0. From the opening recap to the decisive climax at Blenheim, this episode charts the War of the Spanish Succession’s turning point. After Queen Anne’s ascendancy, John Churchill—soon the 1st Duke of Marlborough—rises to command the Grand Alliance. We follow the 1702 Meuse campaign in the Low Countries, the sieges of Venlo, Ruremonde, and Liège, and parallel fronts in Italy and at Vigo Bay. The 1704 crisis sees Franco-Bavarian forces threaten Vienna; in response Marlborough masterminds the audacious March to the Danube, linking with Prince Eugene of Savoy. At Schellenberg, the Allies seize a bridgehead, then scour Bavaria to unseat Elector Maximilian II Emanuel. The campaign culminates at the Battle of Blenheim, where Marlborough and Eugene shatter Tallard’s army through meticulous logistics, daring maneuver, and combined-arms tactics across the Nebel. Expect clear maps, crisp timelines, and tactical breakdowns connecting strategy to battlefield execution.
