as posted by the channel

In the summer of 1608, the galleon Hector arrived at Surat—the first English East India Company ship to reach India! There, they faced the Portuguese, who had spent a century building outposts like Goa. But the real power was the Mughal Empire, an absolute titan with an economy larger than all of Europe combined! To survive the Portuguese "bobcat," the English "mice" sent missions to the Mughal "lion" in Delhi, begging for protection. This bold move secured them their first major outpost in Surat in 1618. #MughalEmpire #EastIndiaCompany #BritishEmpire #HistoryShorts #IndiaHistory #17thCentury
