20 years ago, nearly 1,000 people were held hostage in the Moscow theater. The siege ended in tragedy — 130 hostages died, most not at the hands of the gunmen and women, but apparently because of the effects of the gas.
All those three endless days, I covered that crisis on the air of the Russian private channel TVS. Seven months after, that channel was taken off the air for political reasons.
During the hostage crisis, we already felt that “breath” of censorship and repression. In my LiveStream, I will tell you that story.
