0:55Now PlayingRussian state media started using old Soviet names to talk about the Ukrainian cities and towns. For example, instead of Bakhmut they say Artemovsk. Bakhmut was the initial name of that city before 1924. After that, it was renamed Artyomovsk (Ukrainian Artemivsk) in honor of the Soviet statesman Sergeev, known by his nickname Artyom. In 2015, the city council decided to return the name of the city of Bakhmut.
Also, instead of saying Liman in Russia, they say Red Liman, which was a Soviet name.
However, they keep calling Soledar - Soledar. Why?
