“To Get a Ticket to Kobzon Concert”. What Does It Mean? #warinukraine #kobzon

Joseph Kobzon was a famous Soviet and Russian singer. In 2007, his name was entered into the Guinness Book of Records (Russian Edition) as the most decorated artist in the country's history. Late in his career, he got into politics and became the head of the State Duma's culture committee. Kobzon was known as a great Putin supporter. In March 2014, he signed an open letter in support of Russia's annexation of Crimea. He gave concerts both in the annexed Crimea and in the occupied Donbas. That’s why Alexander Zakharchenko, the so-called Prime Minister of the Donetsk Republic, gave Kobzon the title of Russia's "honorary consul”. Kobzon suffered from cancer and died in 2018, on August 30th. The next day, Alexander Zakharchenko was killed. Ukrainians joked that the pro-Kremlin Donbas leader got a ticket to the Kobzon concert. Since then, that phrase has become very popular. Ukrainians use it when they want to say that some Russian propagandist or any active supporter of the war against Ukraine dies or gets killed.
