That’s how New York State treats its most vulnerable residents. The state offers just enough aid to keep people stagnant, then hits them with “benefit cliffs” that punish any progress. Make a little more money? You lose everything. There’s no plan to ween people off support or build real independence—only dependency and control. Instead of reform, we’re slashing services with no long-term solution. This system is cruel, ineffective, and broken. We need reform that encourages growth and self-sufficiency, not one that traps people in poverty.
