On Tuesday, it will be heard by the Appropriations Committee, a committee where many bills go to die. This is the second year of this two year bill authored by Assembly member Ash Kalra. This is the last chance. I talk with Michael Lighty, President of Healthy California Now, and Maureen Cruise, Co-director of Health Care for All Los Angeles, two lifelong MFA advocates and activists, about the history of the effort to get single payer health care started in the largest state in the country, why this bill is different, the daunting obstacles the bill faces, what the supporters have planned to get it across the finish line, and how YOU can help get it passed.
