Detective Brett Hankinson shot several rounds into Taylor's apartment. Acting police chief calls officers actions "reckless." No actions have been taken against the other officers involved.
Colorado passed a comprehensive police accountability bill. Colorado becomes the first state to end qualified immunity. On Friday, Governor Jared Polis signed bill SB217 into law. The bill passed in 16 days with bipartisan support. SB217 comes in the wake of nationwide demonstrations.
A Viral video of an NYPD officer is seen putting a man in a chokehold. The victim, Ricky Bellevue, remains hospitalized. Bellevue faces several charges including disorderly conduct. Officer David Afanador was suspended without pay. Afanador has a history of disciplinary infractions. In 2014, he was alleged to have pistol-whipped a teen suspect.
