A Las Vegas babysitter faces nine counts for allegedly killing a five-year-old child by beating him so severely that she fractured his skull and caused bleeding in the boy’s brain. The victim, Ryan James Peralto, also suffered “damage to his spleen, liver, pancreas and intestines,” KLAS-TV reported.
According to court records reviewed by Law&Crime, the babysitter, Laurren Jeanette Courtney, 22, is charged with first-degree murder, three counts of child abuse or neglect causing substantial bodily or mental harm, four counts of child abuse or neglect, and one count of child endangerment. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for the morning of May 18.
