as posted by the channelBodycam footage shows a woman escaping a hostage situation during a shootout at a Texas gas station on August 23. The Houston Police Department said 52-year-old Melvin Porter allegedly took his ex-girlfriend hostage and forced her to drive for hours after swapping places with her co-worker, who Porter allegedly kidnapped. Police say they found Porter at a Shell gas station after his ex-girlfriend convinced him to stop to use the bathroom. A shootout between police and Porter occurred while his ex-girlfriend fled to safety. The officers involved and the victim were not injured. Porter was pronounced dead at the scene.
