The incident unfolded when Royale managed to gain access to the store through an emergency exit door, bypassing the usual security measures in place. Once inside, he made his way to the shoe stockroom, where he presumably planned to gather his ill-gotten gains and make a swift escape.

However, Royale's audacious scheme was foiled when Atlanta police, alerted to the suspicious activity, swiftly arrived on the scene. The officers discovered Royale hiding in the shoe stockroom, surrounded by the expensive merchandise he had allegedly intended to steal. The authorities promptly placed him under arrest.
