Later, the disgraced lawyer would admit he planned and attempted to complete a murder-suicide scheme for insurance money with a former client of his, Curtis “cousin Eddie” Smith. Murdaugh indicated that he planned the roadside shooting with Smith. However, the lines of truth are blurred and it’s not clear whether Murdaugh’s confession implicating Smith as the gunman is accurate.
