3:28Now PlayingFederal authorities say polygamist “prophet” Samuel Bateman allegedly used a jailhouse phone to have “sexual discussion” with underage girls. The government estimates Bateman has roughly 50 followers and more than 20 wives, nine of whom are minors between the ages of 12 and 16. Bateman was arrested in 2022 after Arizona authorities discovered three underage girls traveling in a squalid trailer attached to the fundamentalist church leader's pickup truck. Bateman faces trial on March 14 after pleading not guilty to federal kidnapping and tampering with evidence charges. The Law&Crime Network’s Sierra Gillespie has the latest details on this case.
