The incident unfolded when deputies noticed Lambert speeding in a pickup truck equipped with a fake police siren. Suspecting suspicious activity, the deputies decided to pull the vehicle over. Upon approaching the truck, they discovered that Lambert was wearing a black hat with the words "Police U.S. Marshal" prominently displayed on it, further raising their concerns about his true identity and intentions.

During questioning, Lambert claimed that he was responding to a shooting incident in his capacity as a U.S. Marshal. However, when pressed for more information regarding his position and the alleged shooting, Lambert was unable to provide any credible details or evidence to support his claims. The deputies, highly trained to spot inconsistencies and false statements, quickly determined that Lambert was not an actual member of the U.S. Marshals Service. As a result of his actions and the subsequent investigation, Derry Lambert was placed under arrest for impersonating a federal law enforcement officer, a serious offense that carries significant legal consequences.
