Payne stands accused of murdering Kenneth Herring after she followed him when he was involved in a hit-and-run accident. Payne then fatally shot Herring while he was in the driver’s seat of his car, which she claims was in self-defense. The 25-year-old is charged with malice murder, two counts of felony murder, aggravated assault, false imprisonment, and three counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. Payne could face life behind bars.
