Karen Read is expected to attend a hearing on Wednesday before her trial starts next week. Read is accused of driving drunk and hitting her Boston cop boyfriend, John O’Keefe, then leaving him to die in the snow. O’Keefe was found dead outside the home of fellow Boston police officer Brian Albert, in Canton, Massachusetts. In July of 2024, a judge declared a mistrial in her first trial. Read has been charged with second-degree murder, motor vehicle manslaughter, and leaving the scene of a collision causing death.
