Prosecutors claimed the parents were trying to force their daughter into an arranged marriage in Iraq, while the defense argued they were only attempting to bring home a runaway teen. After a dramatic trial, the jury acquitted them of attempted murder but convicted Ihsan of assault and unlawful imprisonment, and Zahraa of violating a protective order.
