The Winter Springs woman told police she shot her husband after he threatened to hurt their 8-year-old autistic son for "pooping his pants." Officers with the Winter Springs Police Department responded to a 911 call on June 5, 2024, in which the caller said she had shot someone in the head. When officers arrived, 39-year-old Laurie Adams surrendered without resistance and officers found 51-year-old Adel Tawfeek on the back porch with a gunshot wound to the head. Adams told investigators she and Tawfeek got into a fight after he threatened the couple's child, who has autism. She said Tawfeek shoved her against a wall, then went to the back porch with a beer, after which she waited about 10 minutes, retrieved a firearm belonging to Tawfeek from inside the house, and shot him in the head. Officers also learned Adams had texted her mother days earlier asking that her mother "be responsible for her son if anything were to happen."
